I Salute you!

AC/DC - For those about to rock,

Well truely, I do salute you.

Salute any person around me that has bothered to turn on the Radio, (And i do mean only Radio 2, and nothing else) since 1979,

Because that's where I feel i'm stuck, sure, I feel the benefits of the health system, and the denationalisation of everything has partially made this society better.

But on the course of music, bar the odd annoymally of a decent band. My music collection seems somewhat constrained to things pre concieved before i was born.

Let me highlight this by the last 3 band i've been and seen.

AC/DC
Metallica
Foo Fighters

Well, maybe a small exception on that list is Mr Dave Grohl et al, but lets be honest here. The former Nirvana drummer has hardly just handed in his English Anthology.

I'm looking at my top 40 "played" list on Winamp.

Iron Maiden,
Muse,
Chris Issak,
Lynard Skynard
Wishbone Ash
Be*Witched.

Now let me at least defend myself here, Be*Witched (C'est la vie if anyone's interested) was left stuck on repeat, so rapidly climbed the "Most played list" faster than MP's expenses.

So where are all the bands that inspire me these days ?

Is it because when they pick up a guitar, they're all pre influenced even subconsiously by music they've heard ?

Wolfmother for example, if they say they wern't influenced by Led Zep (They did say this).
Quite frankly they're lying.

I know The Beatles obsivously were so influential in this country, because all the Records that came across the pond were brought in there and they had the pleasure of esentially hearing first.

Imagine hearing the Bb Riff of Chuck Berry for Johnny B Goode for the first time ? Even thinking about things like that send shivers down my spine.

Thats the trouble, nothing is new before. We, as a generation havn't got anything in our mindset of being able to expand the musical spectrum. Now, i have to admit, given the 80's, where you'd be forgiven to think electric keyboards had just been invented, and the synthsier was going to cure cancer. You have to give them credit for trying, but thankfully this music is now limited to Flares throughout city centres on Weekends.

So people,

Please, pick up your guitars, and let me hear something i haven't heard before that has the experience of a sexual orgasm, before I actually start working on the Flux Capacitor to seek Keef and Mick, and generally stalk them up until.... Now ?

Many Thanks
